Monday August 20th
Hi,
We hope you are having a great summer!
It's been a warm and sunny summer on this side of the Atlantic. We believe it's been much warmer this year than last summer but maybe that's just because we haven't been on the water.
We had a friend, Anders, visiting us in June and we had a great time together. We took time off to go sightseeing with him to several places. Maine was visited again, by car this time. We have also had cruisers visiting us on their way to new destinations and they have encouraged us to keep on going with our refit.

Anders is indulging the American way of living...
Elvina is still at the yard and we have intensified our work to get her ready. So far we have put in about 1000 hours on her since June -07 and many gallons of epoxi!

Kris in his working-mood!

Gunilla is sanding the hull.
Gunilla is responsible for the work on the hull and Kris for the interior work and it's been a fair deal.

The new section of the keel is mounted.
The keel is almost done. There is now a piece of divinycell where the old trimrudder sat. The new shape of the keel looks better than the old one did. The hull is almost ready for the paintjob, some filling and sanding remains still. The watertanks and the holdingtank are nearly finished and the new fridge is waiting for paint.

Holdingtank to the right, watertanks to the left.
Since one thing leads to another and it is a boat we are also going to paint the topsides. We got more cracks in the gelcoat during the winter and we don't want to risk getting water in that way with our new hullwork. A new box for the gasbottles is still to be made and the batteries need to find a new home. The yard owner and some of the truckdrivers at the yard have said we are the hardest working people they know! This wouldn't be possible without hard work..
Some days are easier than others and plan B, C and D are close at hands on the other days... We are far from being finished but we are still hoping to launch this year. The hurricane season is starting to show now so we are not panicking yet. We do keep a close eye on the weather so that we'll know if something will head this way.
Time to go back to work! We'll get back to you when we know more of life ahead of us!
Take care, Gunilla och Kris
